What To Expect At Irish Startup Week 2024

With 3 months to go until Irish Startup Week 2024, we wanted to provide an update on what you can expect.

What is Irish Startup Week?

Irish Startup Week (“ISW”) is a curated series of public and private events by Digital Irish over three days to deepen the connectivity between the Irish startup ecosystem and NYC startup ecosystem. ISW brings together Irish startups with ambition to scale in the U.S., Irish expats and Irish-American tech leaders, VCs and angel investors and ecosystem leaders.

Who should attend Irish Startup Week?

ISW is designed for Irish entrepreneurs and startup founders about to embark on, or in the early stages of, their US expansion. We have space to accommodate 25 startups this year – our selection criteria includes:

  • Tech / Tech-enabled
  • Seed or Series A Venture backed
  • Ready to enter into or expand into the US
  • Started selling in US
  • Exec team member in or moving to US

We will also host public events during ISW for investors, mentors, and community members interested in meeting our startup cohort and learning more about the Irish-American startup ecosystem.

Where and when will Irish Startup Week take place?

ISW 2024 will be hosted at Bank of Ireland’s NYC Hub, in the heart of New York City, on October 1st to October 3rd.

How can I register for Irish Startup Week?

To apply to attend ISW, visit here: https://irishstartupweek.com

Please note: Startups are selected based on an application process and are designed to maximize outcomes and interactivity for the visiting delegates. Public event invites will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis to those that register through the ‘General Attendee’ link.

Is there a registration fee to attend Irish Startup Week?

No, we do not charge a fee to attend ISW. We can provide our programming over the 3 days thanks to the support of our sponsors and partners. Attendees will be expected to cover their own costs of flights plus accommodation. Light refreshments will be provided over the course of the week.

What can I expect over the three days of workshops / panels / networking sessions?

Our startup programming runs from Tuesday through Thursday, allowing Monday and Friday for travel. A small welcome session will be held on the Monday evening.

A full schedule of each day’s session will be made available on our website soon. Our sessions will begin each day at 9:00am and wrap up at 3:00pm, with a networking event in the evening from 6:00pm. Startups and founders should consider using the 3pm-6pm window to organize meetings. We will try to provide office space for meetings to the best of our ability and where available.

Who are the speakers / panelists?

Our lineup of speakers and panelists includes successful entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and experts from the Irish-American business ecosystem. Some of our speakers last year included Oisin Hanrahan (co-founder of Handy.com, former CEO of ANGI), Alice Delahunt (former Chief Digital Officer at Ralph Lauren, CEO of Syky), Mary McEvoy (VP Procurement at Pepisco), Ian Sigalow (VC at Greycroft) and Mike Hanrahan (co-founder of Jet.com, co-founder of Sustain.Life). A detailed list of speakers will be announced closer to the event.

How should I prepare for Irish Startup Week?

Startups that have applied and are accepted to Irish Startup Week are expected to attend all sessions throughout the week.

Be prepared to get involved and discuss your company with fellow founders, industry professionals, investors, and more. We encourage you to bring business cards, a well-rehearsed elevator pitch, and a polished pitch deck. It is also advisable to have a notebook for taking notes during the workshops and panels. Wifi will be available on-site.

We also encourage you to be proactive in scheduling your own meetings during meeting hours of 3pm to 6pm. Our Directory can support your business development efforts.

Who should I bring to ISW?
Each startup can delegate one member of the founding / c-suite team to attend and represent the company at ISW.
