Mapping Out Success w/ Sean O’Sullivan, SOSV

We’re delighted to welcome you back to our next season of events, with great speakers and startups lined up for our September kickoff event!

Industry Speaker

First up, we have a fireside chat with Sean O’Sullivan. Sean is founder and Managing Partner of SOSV, the accelerator-based venture capital firm. With over $650M in assets under management, SOSV runs the world’s most active accelerators in hardware, life sciences, disruptive food, and Asia cross-border startups.

O’Sullivan got his start as co-founder and chairman of MapInfo, bringing street mapping technology to personal computers. MapInfo became a $200 million public company with over 1,000 employees. At NetCentric in 1996, he and George Favaloro from Compaq co-coined the term “cloud computing.” On the humanitarian side, Sean has created and/or supports a range of humanitarian and educational endeavors, including JumpStart International, CoderDojo, Mathletes, I-ASC, and Khan Academy.

Following our fireside chat, we have three Irish startups pitching.

Startup Pitches

  1. ParkPNP has developed an award winning software product that is designed to maximize office parking efficiency whilst generating additional revenue for Landlords and Real Estate Managers. ParkOffice could help your business to save costs and maximize space. Now trusted by institutions such as Colliers, MVGM and Befimmo real estate globally.
  2. The Umba platform allows customers in emerging markets to apply, receive and repay microloans through their Smartphone. Umba uses machine learning to generate a credit score based on alternative data sources where thin or no credit files exist. The platform has issued over 100,000 loans in Kenya to date and has been growing at 20% a month. Umba is teaming up with some of the biggest e-commerce merchants to increase customers access to online goods and services and increase merchant revenues.
  3. FundRecs helps financial service firms in the funds industry automate reconciliations and data transformation. It’s Fusion product allows end users connect legacy systems in a Zapier-like way when no APIs are present.
